ONEREPUBLIC TO PLAY 2016 GREY CUP HALFTIME

TORONTO – American pop band OneRepublic will headline the 2016 Grey Cup halftime show Nov. 27 at Toronto’s BMO Field.

The band’s fourth album, “Oh My My,” will be released Oct. 7. It’s the followup release to “Native,” which has sold over five million units worldwide.

“OneRepublic is one of the biggest bands in the world – they have played for millions of fans internationally and we are thrilled to have them at this year’s Grey Cup in Toronto,” said Christina Litz, the CFL’s senior vice-president of marketing and content. “This promises to be quite a show for the fans attending Grey Cup at BMO Field and for the millions of others watching in Canada and around the world.”

Rock group Fall Out Boy headlined last year’s Grey Cup halftime show in Winnipeg.

OneRepublic is also performing Thursday in Denver as part of the 2016 NFL Kickoff festivities. The Super Bowl-champion Broncos will take on the Carolina Panthers in the regular-season opener.

Command Centre:

"Upon further review, we are changing Direction. The new halftime show will be Anybody's Guess, who's big hits are Open to Interpretation, Clear & Present Bias, and a cover of U Can't Touch This (Receiver)."

Leave it to Rider fans to whine about the halftime act just because they don't know who they are. Maybe broaden your music horizons a bit and you would. The land of whiners.

Perhaps that has something to do with the fact we don't share the musical tastes of the same young ladies the courts told you to stay 300 metres from. I imagine you have learned all the latest hits lurking in the bushes outside their windows.

In case you can't understand what I'm getting at, I'm saying you're a sex offender waiting to happen.

That and an anonymous troll coward.

I gotta say, a lot of people here who haven't heard of OneRepublic.

Course, to be fair, if I never let my nine-year-old daughter operate the radio dial in my car, I'd have never heard of them, either.

I like the choice of band this year, but next year will be a different story. Why? Canada's 150th anniversary, and the Grey Cup is our nation's capital. A Canadian band would be a must. A band like the Stumbellas would be a wise choice.

Peter King is predicting a Packers vs. Steelers Super Bowl. I'm all for that!

The comment has been made before that they try to cater to the younger generation to attract them to the CFL.
I would prefer that the music act was Canadian, but realize that is not always possible.

Shania Twain, who is Canadian, performed at the NFL half-time show in 2003. The NFL has actually featured performers from all over the world, not just from their own country.

This is bullcrap! I know for a fact the Sheepdogs were the #1 contender for doing the half-time show but were strangely "crossed off" the list because they are from the Land of Rape and Honey. Chris Jones even sent a cd of theirs to Orridge as a piece offering but the Commissioner sent it back in pieces…
This conspiracy against the Riders knows no bounds….

I feel like it would have been appropriate to ask The Hip to play. Maybe they did and they turned it down. IJ.
