ONE RIDER, TWO OTHERS FINED

TORONTO — The Canadian Football League announced today that it has fined the following players:

Edmonton Eskimo defensive back Patrick Watkins for making offensive and inappropriate comments directed towards an opponent during last Saturday’s game against the Calgary Stampeders.

Winnipeg Blue Bomber offensive lineman Steve Morley for punching an opponent during Sunday’s game against the Saskatchewan Roughriders.

Saskatchewan Roughrider defensive back Paul Woldu for making avoidable physical contact with an on-field official during their Week 10 game against the Winnipeg Blue Bombers on Sunday, August 31.

As per league policy, the amounts of the player fines were not disclosed.

What about the late hit on Durant after the whistles were blown? The refs should have waved hands in the loud environment? That was no excuse there was 35K fans, in the states it's louder with 70-80K and refs step in.

I'm sure fans from all teams would be happy to pay Paul's fine for him.

How about fining Cohon for failing to provide competent referees?

It's was unavoidable physical contact with an on-field official's beer gut. Paul didnt realize how far out it was sticking. The black and white stripes combined with the roll of the gut gave Paul the dizzy Dopler effect.

What a joke these fines are! Our quarterback is gone for the season because some referee didn't stop the play as soon as the whistle blew. Either the ref or the player that hit Durant should be held accountable. Inept refereeing caused DD's injury!

Here's an intelligent question, who is the lineman that jumped on the play? Blame him for a procedure call. Or a missed block by Clark as it didn't look like he stopped on the play. Just got beat (badly) by Turner.

Nobody seems to mention the missed hold on Dressler's return TD. Seems like some of us Rider fans need to drop the green shades and accept fate as fate.

I don't know but as a long time Rider fan watching that game I saw Woldu charge the ref and immediately thought..oh..oh.here comes a penalty.
To me I thought he was taking a wrong angle to tackle Willy. To me it did not seem the ref was that much in the way. The ref had his back turned to Woldu as he was watching the play not expecting to be hit from behind.
I also wondered if the hit on Durant was after the whistle why no penalty at all for anything? That play to me was a cheap shot.

I am happy that Tino gets his chance, that is how QBs develop. Riders developed alot of QBs since Burris days.

Willy ran straight toward the ref, Woldu was behind the ref. Woldu was in a no win situation. Team needs to pay this fine.
