OWENS SPEAKS ON BEING A ROUGHRIDER

Newly-signed returner/receiver Chad Owens spoke eloquently to Regina reporters via a conference call on Wednesday regarding signing a free agent deal with the Green & White:

CO: It’s pretty simple.  In this business it’s about who wants you, good opportunities, and at the end of the day, that’s what it is.  I have a family to take care of and it’s the same situation I was in last year with Toronto.  When you don’t get an offer, as much as your heart’s in a place, for me, I had made my mind up and saw my future as retiring an Argonaut.  I was 100% sure that was going to happen but they had other plans.

I did what I had to do last year by ending up in Hamilton.  Honestly I thought I was going to be there again this year but it is what it is.  If there’s a place I want to play football and finish my career, it’s in Saskatchewan.

I’ve heard nothing but amazing things.  I already know what Saskatchewan’s all about, the green wave, and the support there is unmatched.  I’m really looking forward to everything.  New facility, new beginning, it’s a new era in Riderville and for me to be a part of it, I’m honestly extremely excited.

Let’s get it going!
