Regina, SK – It was a fun night in the Brandt Centre on Friday.  Boston Leier had a goal and an assist as the Regina Pats beat the Calgary Hitmen 3-2.

The Pats jumped out of the gates building a 3-0 second period lead, aided by two shorthanded goals (from Dyson Stevenson and Chandler Stephenson), to improve to 3-0-1 in their last four games.

The Hitmen got goals from Jake Virtanen who netted his 26th of the season and Brady Brassart who added his 19th in a comeback effort that fell short.

The loss snapped Calgary’s season-high seven game winning streak.

Both clubs had 31 shots on goal with Pats goalie Dawson MacAuley being named the first star. Regina was 0/2 on the powerplay and 4/5 killing penalties. The announced attendance was 4390.

The Pats (22-17-5) are next in action Saturday night when they visit the Saskatoon Blades at 7:00 pm on 620 CKRM (Press Box Sports Bar Pregame Show at 6:35 pm).

Took the Pats game in tonight with my daughter. What a great effort by a hard working blue collar team. The crowd was really into the game and the players fed off it. I will definitely be taking in more games and I hope people get out and see the effort these kids put in on the ice. I guarantee not one player left anything on the ice tonight. Great job Pats you won this fan back.

One of the best Pat's games I've seen in a long time. Great all around effort. Good to see the crowd into it. The "Superfan" helped a lot. Just a fun night. Keep up the good work boy's.

Wonder what that super fan makes for his appearances im guessing nothing less then an all expenses paid trip & $2,000-$5,000 he got the crowd into the game which is a very hard thing to do in Regina, if Pats fans could cheer like how we do at rider games (hell even half that) we would have 1 of the best atmosphere's in all of the WHL…its very sad that we Regina fans just sit on our hands all game long until there is something to cheer about, it doesn't help that we have an old mascot that does nothing… Read more »

About the crowd… Unfortunately, the elderly crowd doesn't like it when it's loud, and it's happened in the past where fans have been told to sit down rather than cheering. Not to mention, the Pats have been below average for many years and that has driven the crowd away. It was the same with the Riders. When they weren't doing well, tickets were plentiful. Now that they have been a top the league for the past six or so seasons, the seats are filled. It was good the Pats pulled out a performance like they did in front of a… Read more »

The Pats had a great work effort last night and were rewarded with a win.

I hope that they can keep the same intensity up for the rest of the season at home and on the road.

Have to admit I don't follow the roster moves that closely, so question to those "in the know" – do the Pats have the line-up to be a contender next year? I know this great prospect Sam Steel coming next year, and a lot of guys from this year eligible to return, but I'm just trying to understand if it made sense for the Pats to be "buyers" at the trade deadline and not "sellers". Are Klimchuk or either of the Stephenson/Stevenson's likely to return next year? Thanks

Energetic, hilarious, funny, goofy change of pace from the mundane usual atmosphere. Now that's a very ramped up fan, caffeine anyone ? Good game Regina Pats, good luck In toontown.

to the fan asking about roster moves… First off the Pats were not buyers, the players they got are nothing more then roster tweaks in Wapple, McVeigh & Schacher…they add depth and players that can play multiple seasons here in Regina. As for Stephenson 1 will expect him to turn pro next year in the Washington Capitals organization, he has yet to sign a contract but I highly doubt WSH will let him become a free agent he is the 7th leading scorer in the WHL and he is strong enough for the pro game already. As for Stevenson he… Read more »

Everyone can name their prospects and claim success in that area. Doing it at the next level is completely different than having people make arguments for you. Who cant write down some names? Even if those guys turn out half assed good, they are 3 years away from contributing. Or are you going to write about how they will be elite players their first year. Everyone has prospects. How can you elevate the Pats prospects above others in the past? You cant.

hahaa I don't think anyone expects them to be elite for there 1st year… the Pats haven't been this deep with prospects for over 10yrs until you realise that there is no arguments to be made
