REGINA — Pavel Padakin’s goal at 16:54 of the second period was the winner as the Regina Pats surprised the Everett Silvertips 3-1 Wednesday in the Brandt Centre.  It was the Pats’ fifth win in their past six games.

Braden Christopher and Jesse Gabrielle scored the other Pats goals while Tyler Brown got the win in goal. Regular starter Daniel Wapple didn’t dress due to a minor groin injury.

The Pats outshot the ‘Tips – who were given an honourable mention in the CHL Top Ten rankings on Wednesday – by a 35-26 margin.

The Pats were outshooting the U.S. Division leaders 2-to-1 for much of the contest and controlled the majority of the game in the Regina debut of newcomers Connor Hobbs and Taylor Cooper.

Regina was 1/4 on the powerplay and 3/3 killing penalties.  The attendance was 3556.

The Pats (25-12-3) welcome the Memorial Cup champion Edmonton Oil Kings Friday evening at 7:00 (Press Box Sports Bar Pregame Show at 6:35 pm).

I am completely shocked. These new group of players come in with what, maybe one practice, and beat one of the top teams in the country. I must say Connor Hobbs looks like the real deal and Jesse Gabriel is going to be a thorn in the side of every team we play. Tyler Brown, you're officially a stud! Great job Pats

Best coaching display since Bob Lowes guided the bare bones of what was left over from the Mem Cup to a 40 win season. Then you know who got in the way …

Great win by the Pats after all that transpired this week!

Kudos to the kids and the coaches for getting right back to business. The new guys look good.

Best of luck in the weekeend games. Sad I'm going to miss them.

Hey are you arm-chair GMs that hated the past owners – where the hell were you last night? 3,556 is pretty sad. You guys are getting everything you want – new owners, new coach, new long-term approach, heck even a new score clock. Time to put your money where your mouth is and support this team. Even with all the trades, clealy Paddock and players haven't tanked on this season….too bad a lot of fans have.

In 2-3 years, the Pats will have 5/6 players in their line-up that will have been drafted in the first three rounds of the NHL Draft.

This team is good and will start to make noise next year. Real noise. These 16 & 17 years olds are only scrathing the surface.

50 win season in two years that will start a long stretch of winning.

Winning breeds winning.

Hopefully Paddock sticks around for at least three years.

Later,
The Coach

I really feel bad for old Lee Ann. She is missing some darn good hockey by the Pats. Come back Lee Anne, admit you were wrong, and enjoy the present and the great years to come.
