PATS 3 WARRIORS 1

REGINA — Another visit from the Moose Jaw Warriors was just what the doctor ordered for the Regina Pats. Sunday afternoon before 3538 fans in the Brandt Centre, the Pats dumped their top rivals 3-1 to improve to 4-0 against the Tribe on this young WHL season.

The Pats did all their scoring in the opening period as 20-year old forward Boston Leier put the Pats up 2-0 late in the first frame. Former Warrior Carter Hansen made it 3-0 with a shorthanded goal with 39 seconds left in the first.

The shutout bid of Pats goalie Dawson MacAuley was spoiled with just 21 seconds remaining in the game when the Warriors’ Jesse Forsberg scored on the powerplay. The Pats were without back-up netminder Mac Engel and forward Dyson Stevenson as both were suspended for their role in Friday’s fracas at PA.

The Pats outshot the Warriors 36-21 while going 1/5 on the powerplay and 3/4 killing penalties.

That was the last home game for Regina (9-9-0) until November 29 as they head out on the road due to Agribition and Grey Cup. The Pats play eight straight on the road beginning Wednesday in Lethbridge at 8 pm on 620 CKRM (Press Box Sports Bar Pregame Show at 7:35 pm).

Pats also acquire 20yr old defenseman Jesse Zgraggen for a 4th rd pick right after todays game. The Pats also released Marc Engel to get down to 3 20yr olds.

This trade should help the Pats out on defense as well as giving guys like Williams more manageable minutes as he has been looking alittle exposed lately but did play a solid game today. FINALLY!

Hey Rod actually Braven MacPherson dressed for the Pat's today as the back up goalie. He is Jeff's Son and plays for the Extreme Hockey Capitals. Just an FYI

Pats and Warriors both struggling Teams this year based on last 2 games here…not the most skilled Teams. Hopefully the new D-man will help out…Engel just wasn't cutting it and sort of a waste of a 20 year old. If Pats can stave off injuries and Macauley continues playing like he is we should have a winning record. Road trip going to be tough but maybe can do some team building and get a few wins. Good luck guys! Will be watching on WHL Live.
