Regina, Saskatchewan –The Regina Pats beat the Sasktaoon Blades 4-1 in the final game of the Pats’ Pre-season Tournament.

The first meeting of the pre-season between the two clubs was a physical contest.  The Pats came out firing, putting up 17 shots on goal to the visitors 7.  However, the Blue and White could not figure out Saskatoon goaltender Nolan Maier early on leaving the first period scoreless.

The rivals would exchange goals in the second.  Saskatoon’s Luke Gingras broke the stalemate 49 seconds into the middle frame.  Sergey Zborovskiy pulled his team even with a big shot from the blue line at the 10:14 mark.

In the third, Jared Freadrich fired his own bullet from the blue line to give his team a 2-1 lead and what would be the eventual game winner.  The Pats got some insurance in the waning minutes thanks to empty net goals from Nick Henry and Brady Pouteau.

Steel actually got 3 assists. Henry 2 assists & Fredrich a goal and an assist. Zoborovskiy's goal was assisted by Steel & Freadrich instead of Ahl and Hemry. Ref's are terrible in pre-season and nobody bothers to correct them. Stats In pre-season are useless because they are so inaccurate.

Maybe so but in regular season the scoring plays are reviewed and corrected where as in pre-season they are not. Ref's get the scoring plays correct about 2/3 of the time on a good day.
