SASKATOON (CP) – Morgan Klimchuk scored three times, including a short-handed goal to open the scoring in the second period, as Regina edged Saskatoon 4-2 Wednesday night at Credit Union Centre.

Logan McVeigh scored the other goal for the East division-leading Pats (32-22-6) and Dmitry Sinitsyn had two assists.

Chase Clayton and Ayrton Nikkel scored for the Blades (16-40-5), who were outshot 44-28.

Dawson MacAuley stopped 26 shots to take the victory for Regina. Blades goalie Troy Trombley made 40 saves in the losing effort.  The Pats were 0/1 on the powerplay and 2/2 killing penalties.  The attendance was 4215.

The first-place Pats host the Victoria Royals Friday evening at 7:00 pm on 620 CKRM (Press Box Sports Bar Pregame Show at 6:35 pm).

No sense bragging that the Pats beat the lowly Blades again. By the looks of it there will be a long time before the Blades do anything to anybody the way this Franchise is running , I can see them folding in Saskatoon in the very near years to come. Their whole system is completely shot.

Yes Saskatoon sucks but a win is a win and now the Pats are 4 points ahead of 2nd place in the East division. I say brag away!

Nice to see Klimchuk back on the goal sheet.

Victoria will be a good test tomorrow. I hope I can make it to the game.
