PATS 4 RAIDERS 2

REGINA — Austin Wagner’s even strength goal at 9:58 of the third period was the game-winner as the Regina Pats held on for a 4-2 victory over the Prince Albert Raiders Tuesday evening in the Brandt Centre before 4833 fans.  It was the Pats’ second consecutive win giving them 28 on the season.

The Pats led 1-0 after the first period on a goal by Luc Smith despite being outshot 9-5 in the opening 20.  Regina went up 2-0 in the middle frame on a beautiful deke by European Pavel Padakin.  The Pats led 2-1 going into the third.

Wagner scored the eventual winner with a steal behind the Raider goal and tucking it in on a wrap-around for his 17th of the season.  Rookie Sam Steel iced the game with an empty-netter with 0:01 remaining.

The Pats were outshot 27-25 while going 0/2 on the powerplay and 4/5 on the penalty-kill.  Daniel Wapple made 25 saves to collect the win in the Pats’ goal.

Regina (28-17-4-2) plays game two of their homestand Friday evening when they host the Saskatoon Blades at 7:00 (6:35 pm Press Box Sports Bar Pregame Show on 620 CKRM).
