SASKATOON – Sam Steel had a short-handed goal and added two assists as Regina edged the Blades 5-4 Saturday evening at SaskTel Centre.

Chase Harrison, Rykr Cole, Braden Christoffer and Connor Gay rounded out the attack for the Pats (19-11-1).  Christoffer’s goal with three seconds remaining was the game-winner, with Steel drawing an assist.  The Pats rookie was named the game’s first star.

Cameron Hebig, Ryan Graham, Luke Gingras and Brett Stovin provided the offence for Saskatoon (7-24-3). The Blades haven’t won in 10 games.

The Pats outshot the Blades 32-30 while going 1/6 on the powerplay and 4/5 killing penalties.  The attendance was 4552.

The Pats visit the Brandon Wheat Kings on Tuesday at 7:00 on 620 CKRM (Press Box Sports Bar Pregame Show at 6:35 pm).

Meh.. probly not for long unless this lights a fire under his butt and starts to dominate. agree by all accounts he's Eberle soft without Eberle skill and we all know how much he won around here as a pat. Bugger all.. Trade him for some prospects and picks let the kid go to a surefire winner and experience success. Pats can better prepare the younger kids this year and next and maybe in two years we contend.. like playoff contend because we aren't taking out Brandon this year. My opinion

To the idiots posters here who don't know anything sh_t about hockey, your a sorry lot. Every single year good players get cut and that happened again. There was even a returnee Bigras who was cut. It's a coaches prerogative. Every year teams all over the place scream that their guy didn't make it. It happens every year. The only reason Eberle made Team Canada was because Hunt was an assistant coach. Nobody knew of him or what he could do. They soon found out. Well time has proven that Seguin is head and shoulders above Hall. He isn't injury prone, has won a Stanley Cup and is now the #1 scorer in entire NHL with another team. Case closed.
