PATS 5 BRONCOS 4 (OT)
REGINA — Adam Brooks had a night to remember on Friday. On the same evening he was named the Regina Pats’ MVP for the 2015-16 season, the 19-year old Winnipegger notched a staggering five points to lead the Queen City Kids to a 5-4 overtime victory over the Swift Current Broncos.
It was the Pats’ fifth consecutive win and moved them into third-place in the WHL’s East Division thanks to the Moose Jaw Warriors’ 6-2 defeat at Brandon Friday night.
Brooks set up all five Pats goals on an evening where the club was scoreless after the first period and led 3-1 after 40 minutes. The Broncos made things interesting going on a 4-0 run to take a 4-3 lead in the third period however Regina’s Riley Woods tied the game with just 0:56 remaining in regulation time.
Regina had the only two shots of overtime and it took only 10 seconds of the extra session for Connor Hobbs to put the game away sending another sellout crowd of 6,484 home in a frenzy.
Tyler Brown got the win in the Regina goal stopping 26 of 30 shots while Travis Child and Taz Buman split time in the Broncos’ net. Regina outshot Swift Current 38-30.
Regina was 2/4 on the powerplay and 2/3 killing penalties.

anybody remember former Pats HC Malcolm Cameron saying Brooks wasn't a top line scorer? Well he has 120 points with a game left tomorrow and leads entire WHL
Didn't reaize Adam assisted on all 5 of the goals…quite the night again! I am liking the 3rd line more and more…too bad they lost Berg to the game misconduct part way thru. They all work very hard and can wear down the opponents over the course of the night. A good blue collar line for the playoffs. The boys might have got a little overconfident with the 3 – 0 lead but I am sure JP will set them straight on that before the game tomorrow night in Brandon. Would be nice to get that 3rd spot and play… Read more »
Great job Pats! Awesome game and good luck versus the Raiders in the playoffs (yes that means Pats beat Brandon tonight!)! Pats are the last team the Raiders wanted to see in the playoffs. Roddy knows.
Brooks is a stud. Hope he's back next year and leads the Pats again. I think next years team is scary good and topples Brandon yet again (after Pats topple Brandon this year in playoffs). Go Pats!
Careful…..last guy to win Most Popular Player and 3 Star Award got traded away.
MJ just has to lose their game against SC. Then we play the soft Raiders.
Pats in 5!
I am here to tell ya, ain't no way, no how, that Swift Current will beat the Warriors. Keep dreamin y'all!
Who holds the tie breaker?
Nothing is given yet. There is still some work to do tonight. It will be either Lethbridge or PA. Prince Albert as a shorter trip and the Pats have played PA pretty well, as have they Lethbridge. No matter who they face they will have a real tough challenge. Playoffs are very different from regular season. The Pats really have to find a way to shore of their defence and unforced mistakes. Last night three soft plays cost three goals. If they do that in playoffs it will be done in four games. Defence has hurt us all year and… Read more »
The 3 plays you refer too were by one guy for two of the plays (vet import dman) and the other was by the best forward on the team. Some ass time in the stands for the dman would help and put Schioler in his spot. The 3rd hiccup was by Brooks so I think we will cut him some slack.
Warriors are an extremely soft team. They're getting bounced in first round and will lose to Broncos tonight, wnt be close. Guaranteed win by Swift!
MJ holds the tie breaker with Pats for winning the Season series
To the Anon – "Careful…..last guy to win Most Popular Player and 3 Star Award got traded away." That very well may happen I agree…and I am ok with it if provides greater opportunity for success next season and down the line. With Brooks' performance this season he may get drafted, but if not will surely get a look at a free agent NHL camp in the off season. JP will have to gauge the likelyhood of Adam not coming back to the WHL vs making a trade for the long term. Tough call but I trust he will make… Read more »
Yep keep working for next season….and next season…..
Negative much…
Raiders are a pushover and we need to see them first in the playoffs. Pats will go deep this year!
Well guys, Pats getting dominated at Brandon Saturday night , down 2-0 in second; and MJ up 1-0 after first vs Swift Current. Looks like the Pats may be travelling to Lethbridge for games 1 & 2 Friday /Saturday.
