REGINA – Cole Sanford scored three times as the Pats skated past Kootenay 5-3 Wednesday in the Brandt Centre, snapping a three-game losing streak.

Austin Wagner and Lane Zablocki also found the back of the net for Regina (31-26-7).

Zak Zborosky, Eli Lieffers and Reed Morison responded for the Ice (10-48-6), who are destined to miss the playoffs for the first time in franchise history.

Regina outshot Kootenay 46-32 while going 1/3 on the powerplay and 4/4 on the penalty kill.

The attendance was 3556.

The Pats return to action on Friday when they host the Swift Current Broncos 7:00 pm on 620 CKRM.

Watched the game on-line and have been to several home games this year and like to listen to the radio show after the game…..why are any of the coaches interviewed after the game always sound like such downers and so unhappy no matter what the outcome…they seem to be doing a good job as the team is very competitive and entertaining…they just have to cheer up a little

Cheer it up??…………maybe you should have gone down to the Casino.. The coaches "tell it like it is" like any coach should. Outside of the score it was a terrible game last night. No flow and no excitement. Just mistake after mistake. It's understandable that at the 64 game mark some guys are still making Bantam style mistakes, that coaches should be upset. Cole Sanford has a pro shot! His abilities are precisely what the younger players should be learning from. You can tell that he has worked long and tirelessly on his craft and if anything good can come out of his 20 year old presense it would be the example he sets. If only he were 4 inches taller and 30 pounds heavier….
