REGINA — Connor Gay’s second goal of the game, at 2:45 of overtime, was the winner as the Regina Pats won their fourth in a row, 5-4 over the Edmonton Oil Kings Wednesday in the Brandt Centre.
It was a feisty affair between the Pats and the defending Memorial Cup champions, which was tied 1-1 after the first period and 3-3 after 40 minutes. Regina’s other goals came from Dryden Hunt, Rykr Cole and Colby Williams while Daniel Wapple made 29 saves to earn the win.
Regina (12-9-1) outshot Edmonton (11-8-2) by a 34-32 margin before 3329 fans. The Pats were 1/3 on the powerplay and 4/6 killing penalties.
