The Regina Pats came out flying to open the U.S.-leg of their six game road trip.  Saturday night in Spokane, the Pats jumped out to a 4-1 lead after the opening period and cruised to a 7-2 victory over the hometown Chiefs.

Austin Wagner, Connor Hobbs, Jared Freadrich and Adam Brooks all scored in the opening 20 minutes and Sam Steel upped Regina’s lead to 5-1 heading into the third period.  Steel scored again in the final frame, along with Austin Wagner’s second of the contest, to cap the scoring.

Steel, Hobbs, and Brooks all had three-point nights.

Jordan Hollett made 26 saves to record the win in the Pats’ net while Spokane’s Tyson Verhelst and Lasse Peterson split time in the loss.

Regina outshot Spokane 32-28 while going 2/4 on the powerplay and 4/5 killing penalties.  The attendance was 6201.

The Pats (18-18-6) are now off until Tuesday when they visit the Everett Silvertips at 9:00 pm on 620 CKRM.

Outstanding game by the Pats. Impressive 60 minutes. Brooks is a stud. He will be drafted this year, no question.
