Prince Albert, SK – The Prince Albert Raiders (8-28-1-1) fell in their final game of 2016 by an 8-0 score to the Regina Pats (24-3-6-1) on Friday night at the Art Hauser Centre.
The Pats jumped out to a 2-0 lead by the end of the first period. First, Liam Schioler tallied his first of the season at the 8:48 mark. Then, Austin Wagner found the back of the net on the power play after a puck ricocheted off of his skate and in.
In the second, Nick Henry scored twice, while Lane Zablocki and Sam Steel also scored to give the Pats a 6-0 lead after 40 minutes.
The Pats added two more goals in the third period. Zablocki notched his second of the game, while Rykr Cole scored his sixth of the season to round out the scoring at 8-0.
Ian Scott got the start for the Raiders, stopping 10 shots on 13 attempts before being pulled 2:46 into the second period. Nicholas Sanders played the rest of the game, making 14 saves on 19 attempts. Tyler Brown picked up the win for the Pats with a 24-save shutout.

A great comeback game after a not so good game against Wheaties. Brown very solid again and Hobbs was dominant. Pins and needles now for some of the players until trade deadline on Jan 10th. Would like to be a "fly on the wall" in JP office these days.
New DMan Smart a +4…didn't really notice him but good to see him and D Davidson settling in well. Phil said DD threw 2 or 3 good clean hits.
Everyone have a Fun but Safe New Year's Eve!
….and see you at the game tomorrow.
Go Pats Go!
So the champs have outscored PA 27-8 in the first four meetings. The good news for PA is they only have to play the Pats 4 more times this year, starting with a New Years Day matinee.
Sorry to say we won't be in attendance for the New Years Day Pats game, as we'll be listening to it on CKRM while ice fishing Last Mountain Lake. Go PATS Go
It was hard to get a read on the game as I watched it. Things are tough in PA right now with a bunch of young guys and some questionable older players. Not much leadership it looked and overall they looked like a very disheartened bunch. I don't think the Pats gained much from this game but they took care of business. I think a lot of players are having eye popping nights against PA like Zabrovskiy last time against PA in a 12-2 win. It was a win and that a good thing. Not much else to be gleaned… Read more »
Raiders are forunate to be able to play against a great team like the Rats…it will only make the Raiders better. Young players learn a ton from playing against older skilled players
Always a silver lining …
Pats are younger and more skilled than Raiders, try again.
Hey man, there's a small chance that the Pats may possibly win the first Memorial Cup in their storied (lol)history. But, probably not.
no you try again PA (3-96) (3-97) (7-98) (7-99) (3-00) total 23 players. Average age 17.78 years
Pats (3-96) (6-97) (7-98) (6-99) (2-00) total 24 players. Average age 18.08

Hate to break it to you smart ass, but the Pats won the Memorial Cup in 1974! Do some research before making silly comments.
Ooohh, hot off that '74 cup and looking for more! Wohoo.
Hilarious, one takes a few decimal points and states the Raiders are playing against older skilled players, whatever floats your boat.
they have 3 memorial cup wins fyi
Maybe no big thing about age but in all reality it's quite big. The younger you are the less experience you have. Also trading away several of your big names i.e. Ghule, your team is bound to be weaker. The Pats have beat up on weak teams but did little against good ones like on their BC trip. They have 12 losses this year albeit some in OT/SO but they still have 12 losses. Lots of teams have shown they can most assuredly handle them. A first round matchup against Brandon might spell the end of their season. It's also… Read more »
Being a Sask team I hope that the Rats do well. However with dopes like posters here it sure could be easy to pray that they get taken out in the first round. Rats haven't done anything yet and goofs are already crowning them champs. Lots of hockey to play yet and a couple of injuries could potentally cause big problems. Nothing wrong with being enthusiastic about your team but being jerks doesn't help anyone and paints a BIG bullseye on your team.
Keep hating the top team in Canada! We love the haters and negative nellies. You make us have a good laugh so thank you for posting. People aren't happy when the Pats have crappy years and now they are at the top and some still have negative crap to spew. It's exciting hockey this year and I love it. Go Pats Go
