PATS 9 BRONCOS 4, BEDARD 1-3-4
REGINA – It was the Connor Bedard Show Monday evening in the Brandt Centre, only this time he had a lot of offensive support from his teammates. The WHL’s first Exceptional Player had a career night notching a goal and three assists to pace the Regina Pats to a 9-4 victory over the Swift Current Broncos.
The Pats led 3-1 and 7-4 by period but strangely never had complete control of the game until the final half of the third period. Head coach Dave Struch continued to tinker with his lines, matching Bedard with wingers Carson Denomie and Zach Smith. The mixing paid off, as Smith and Denomie each scored twice with Bedard setting up three of them. His lone goal came on a breakaway at 13:53 of the second period in a 4-on-4 situation. It was his 7th of the season, and extended his point streak to nine games.
The Pats (3-4-2) outshot the Broncos (2-7-1) 39-29 while going 2/5 on the powerplay and 3/4 killing penalties. Roddy Ross collected his first win in the Pats net while Reid Dyck of the Broncos took the loss.
Regina returns to action Tuesday at 8:00 pm when they face the Moose Jaw Warriors on AccessNow TV and 620 CKRM.
