PATS CLOSE OUT PRESEASON WITH 5-4 WIN AT WINNIPEG

A power play goal by Regina forward Parker Berge at 10:35 of the third period earned the Pats a 5-4 decision over the Winnipeg ICE Saturday night at The RINK Training Centre.

Berge, who also scored the overtime winner Thursday in Regina, finished the game with a hat-trick. Zane Rowan and Easton Armstrong rounded out the Regina scoring.

Aiden Oiring had a pair of goals and an assist for Winnipeg who close out the preseason campaign with a 1-2-1 record. Skyler Bruce and Jonas Woo had the other goals. Bruce also chipped in with a pair of assists for a three point night.

The ICE outshot the Pats 41-27.

Koen MacInnes started the game in net for the visitors making 13 of 15 saves before Matthew Kieper (24/26 saves) came in to finish the game.

Daniel Hauser stopped 22 of 27 in his preseason debut.

Regina was 3/6 on the power play.  The ICE went 2/7.

Winnipeg now prepares to open the WHL regular season Saturday, September 24th in Brandon (6:30 on CFRW 1290).
