PATS FALL 4-3 IN BRANDON

Brandon, Man. — The Brandon Wheat Kings scored three goals in the first nine minutes of Saturday’s game en route to a narrow 4-3 win over the Regina Pats.

Regina recovered well after their slow start and battled back, with Logan Nijhoff making it 3-1 before the first intermission, followed by Braxton Whitehead and Cole Dubinsky each scoring to make it a 4-3 game after 40 minutes. The Pats fired 15 shots on goal in the third period, but could not find the equalizer.

Drew Sim came in relief for Matthew Kieper and had his best appearance of the season, stopping 23 of 24 shots.

The Wheat Kings got goals from four different players, including the Teddy Bear Toss goal just 20 seconds in from Brett Hyland. Nolan Ritchie, Chad Nychuk and Nate Danielson had the other Brandon goals.
