Medicine Hat, Alta. — The Regina Pats let a 4-2 lead slip away on Tuesday night, falling 5-4 in a shootout to the Medicine Hat Tigers on the road.

Regina came back from a 2-0 deficit to score four times in a span of 7:21 in the second period. Cole Dubinsky got the Pats started, followed by Connor Bedard, Tanner Howe and Stanislav Svozil, giving Regina a 4-2 lead after two periods of play. Bedard’s tally was his 50th career goal, scored in just his 63rd game, while the 16-year-old also increased his point streak to 18 games (18G-20A). He is now T-5th in Western Hockey League scoring with 76 points.

The Tigers got one back 7:49 into the third period to make it 4-3, and then evened the score with just 4.9 seconds left to force overtime after Brendan Lee notched his second of the game on a shot through the five hole. The Pats had some good looks in overtime, but couldn’t find the winner.

In the shootout, Bedard and Svozil each missed, while the Tigers got goals from Andrew Basha and Logan Barlage to go home with the extra point.

Regina went 0-for-3 on the power play, and 1-for-2 on the penalty kill.

With the point, the Pats are now just one point out of the 8th seed in the Eastern Conference, currently held by Prince Albert (50 points), but the Pats have a game in hand. Regina is now three points back of the 7th-place Lethbridge Hurricanes, who they also have a game in hand on. The Pats and Canes go toe-to-toe on Wednesday night in the final H2H meeting of the season.
