PATS’ KLIMCHUK NAMED PLAYER OF THE WEEK
The Western Hockey League announced today that Regina Pats’ forward Morgan Klimchuk is the Denny’s WHL Player of the Week for the week ending February 23, 2014.
Klimchuk scored six goals and three assists for 9 points with a +4 rating in four games over the past week to lead the Pats to four straight victories in that span.
Klimchuk, an 18-year-old from Calgary, AB, is in his third WHL season with the Regina Pats, and currently sits tied for third in team scoring with 61 points, including 25 goals, in 48 games. Selected by the Pats with the fifth overall pick in the 2010 WHL Bantam Draft, the 5’11”, 185-lb left winger has accumulated 79 goals and 174 points in 192 career regular-season contests. Klimchuk was chosen in the first round, 28th overall, by his hometown Calgary Flames in the 2013 NHL Draft.
Well deserved! If not for some missed games due to injuries he would be near the top of league scoring for sure. Keep it going for the playoffs Morgan.
