Red Deer, Alta. — The Regina Pats turned a 2-0 deficit into a 4-3 advantage against the Red Deer Rebels on Saturday night thanks to a four-goal second period, but they lost the contest 6-4 after a controversial goal from Ben King held up as the game-winner.

Scoring in the second period for the Pats were Connor Bedard, Ryker Evans, Zane Rowan and Adam McNutt.

The Rebels tied the game 4-4 midway through the third period, and two and a half minutes later they took the lead. Both goals came on the power play. The go-ahead 5-4 goal was reviewed, as it didn’t appear the puck completely crossed the goal line, but it was upheld because the call on the ice was a legal goal.

Bedard increased his point streak to 11 games, during which he has scored 13 goals and added 11 assists for 24 points. His 62 points are tied for 11th in the Western H0ckey League and his 33 goals are tied for sixth. Evans also continued his hot play, registering a goal and an assist. He now has 52 points this season, which ranks third amongst all WHL defencemen.

Regina was out-shot 39-22 in the game. They went 1-for-3 on the power play on Friday, and the Rebels went 2-for-4 on their man advantage.
