PATS OFFICIALLY ANNOUNCE MEMORIAL CUP BID
Regina – The Regina Pats Hockey Club is pleased to announce that an official bid has been submitted to host the Canadian Hockey League’s historic 100th Anniversary Memorial Cup in 2018.
The work to support this bid is well underway, with Shaun Semple, President and CEO of the Brandt Group of Companies and Chair of Regina’s Host Organizing Committee, leading a strong volunteer team. “With our amazing volunteer base and demonstrated ability to host major events, Regina is the natural choice to host the Cup,” says Mr. Semple. “It is the perfect opportunity to showcase the long, storied history of Canada’s game in the home of Canada’s oldest hockey team!”
“The 100th anniversary of the Memorial Cup aligns beautifully with our own Regina Pats 100-year celebration,” adds Pats Governor, Anthony Marquart. “We are excited to show all of Canada what Regina has to offer!”
The Pats ownership group and management team have proven their abilities since taking over in 2014 by vigorously overhauling the Regina franchise; quickly transforming it into the #1 Major Junior hockey team in the country. They are keen to extend this success beyond their home market, augmenting the profile of Major Junior hockey across Canada.
I for one would be very happy if the Pats are successful in holding this event in 2018, especially with it coinciding with their 100th Anniversary as well. Hopefully can get this Lease thing done sooner than later.
Curious how and if the City of Regina even wants to support this bid. Two months after the Brier.
I too would not be unhappy to see Regina get the Memorial Cup. Hope they can seal the deal!

Why do people have to be so negative!?? At least it will be full. Hamilton, probably not, Oshawa yes…with no discounted tickets, and Regina, yes, with no discounted tickets. Except for one, YOU, who should be banned from taking in any of the events!
Lol @ the "OLD BARN" comment. If you want to see an old barn, go take a look at the old exhibition stadium before it gets torn down. The Pats have done a lot of renovations to the Brand Center (re: Agridome) since the last time they hosted a Memorial Cup (2001). The blue padded seats are great, the new score clock is great etc.. And to the best of my knowledge, one of the contingencies of hosting the Memorial Cup tournament in 2018 will be to do a lot more upgrades. I think the Brandt Center is a great… Read more »
