PATS-ROYALS TRADE

Regina Pats Senior VP and General Manager Chad Lang announced on Tuesday the team has acquired 18-year old defenceman Isaac Schacher (6’4″, 215 lbs) from the Victoria Royals in return for 5th Round WHL Bantam Draft Selections in 2015 and 2016.

Schacher (pronounced SHOCK-err) played in 35 games for Victoria this season while registering seven points (1G, 7A), 23 penalty minutes and a plus 13 rating.  Last season, the Kimberly, B.C. native split time between the Royals (10 GP – 1A) and the KIJHL’s Kimberly Dynamiters (46 GP – 15G – 24A – 39PTS).

“We are happy to add a player of Isaac’s stature to our lineup.  Schacher will provide depth and add size to our back-end,” said Chad Lang.  “With the departure of Tye Hand, we felt it was important to add a big defender to our roster.”

The WHL Trade Deadline is on Friday, January 10th at 12:00 p.m. MST.  Visit ReginaPats.com for the latest news on the Pats, game previews and game recaps.

Thats is a good move adds size to the defence and the price is not high and those draft picks could be recooped before 2015 and 2016

Come on Bob N. …just put it out there and tell us what you (think) you know. And then we will all know you're just not hot air and you can sing your own praise and said "I told you so". Say what you know, rather than the generic "fortune cookie" type of prediction.

I wish I could spill the beans. However, I have been given strict rules. Everything will unfold soon. Be patient. As they say, good things happen to those that wait.

hardly much to get exited about…Lang is short a lot of picks in the next two drafts…won't happen unless he makes some mega trades and gets some early picks included……boring news*

Why doesn't Mr. Lang inform the fan base about the injury status of Sam Steel – he was out for a month before the Mac's Tournament and missed his team's last 3 games of the tournament.

How often do you get injury updates on prospects from teams?

I realize Steel is a big time prospect, but it's not like we find out from the Pats every time one of their prospects misses some time.

Medical information on minors can't be disclosed except in certain circumstances. I'm sure his injuries will be properly treated and monitored.

Coming out of Bantam kids often think they are going to excel at Midget AAA like they did in Bantam. They still haven't taken the whole thing seriously. You find the ones who spend the extra time in the weight room getting stronger usually perform well. Going from Bantam to Midget to Major Junior in a little over a year is tough. Only the ones who've put the work in do well.
