PATS TO PLAY IN ESTEVAN

Regina, Sask. – The Regina Pats Hockey Club announced Wednesday that they will play an additional pre-season contest on Tuesday, September 13 against the Swift Current Broncos at Affinity Place in Estevan, Sask.

“The Pats are excited to partner with the Swift Current Broncos, Estevan Bruins and the City of Estevan to bring WHL hockey to Southern Saskatchewan,” Regina Pats CEO Gordon Pritchard said. “Estevan is a storied hockey community that is fresh off an SJHL Championship and the hosts of the 2022 Centennial Cup. This is a passionate hockey community, and we couldn’t be more pleased to have the opportunity to play in Estevan.”

The game marks the first time that the Pats will play at a neutral site since September 14, 2016, when the Pats took on the Brandon Wheat Kings at the Chief Denton George Memorial Multiplex in Ochapowace, Sask.

“The Estevan Bruins are thrilled to be able to bring WHL hockey to Estevan on September 13,” said Estevan Bruins president Josh Biggs. “After seeing the support of our fan base and the appetite for hockey during last year’s playoffs and Centennial Cup, we want to continue to bring top quality events to the City of Estevan and Affinity Place.

In addition, all proceeds from the nightly 50/50 as well as one-third of the gate admission will be going to the Estevan Minor Hockey Association to support youth hockey in Estevan.

Affinity Place is the home of the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League’s Estevan Bruins, and seats 2,650 for hockey games. Tickets for this game will be available at estevanbruins.com starting on August 24 at 5 p.m.

“This a great opportunity for people in Estevan and surrounding areas to watch projected NHL number one draft pick and Pats superstar Connor Bedard in our home rink,” added Biggs. “The Bruins, Broncos and Pats all recognize the importance of growing the game and supporting hockey at the grassroots level, which is why we’re thrilled to offer one free ticket to every child registered in Estevan Minor Hockey for the upcoming season.”

Regina’s other pre-season games are two home games and two road games, beginning September 9 and 10 with a home-and-home set against the Prince Albert Raiders. The Pats pre-season schedule wraps up against the Winnipeg ICE on September 15 and 17.
