DUB ROUND-UP: PATS TOP HURRICANES 4-2

Regina, Sask. — The Regina Pats bounced back from back-to-back losses this weekend with a 4-2 victory over the Lethbridge Hurricanes on Monday afternoon inside the Brandt Centre in front of yet another sellout crowd.

The Pats mustered three unanswered goals, coming back from a 2-1 deficit to snap their two game skid. Regina got scoring from four different players as well as points from nine different Pats in their 26th victory of the season and 11th in comeback fashion. Stanislav Svozil (1G-1A), Braxton Whitehead, Tanner Howe and Zane Rowan scored for the Pats while Connor Bedard and Tye Spencer each chipped in with a pair of assists. Drew Sim made 28 saves for his 22nd win of the season.

The Hurricanes had their two game winning-streak and stretch of four straight games with a point come to a close in the loss. They got goals from Jett Jones and Brayden Edwards as well as a 30 save performance from Harrison Meneghin.

The Pats now lead the season series 2-0-0-1, picking up five of a possible six points against the Hurricanes this season with all three matchups decided by two goals or less. The Pats will wrap up their season set against Lethbridge on the road on March 10.

EDMONTON – Dylan Sydor and Daylan Kuefler each scored twice as the visiting Kamloops Blazers won their ninth game in a row by dumping the Edmonton Oil Kings 7-3 in Western Hockey League action on Monday..

Caedan Bankier, Olen Zellweger and Matthew Seminoff also scored for the Blazers (36-10-4-2), who led 2-1 after the first period and 5-3 heading into the third. Zellweger and Ashton Ferster each chipped in with two assists.

Noah Boyko scored twice for the Oil Kings (8-43-3-0), while Rilen Kovacevic netted a single.

The Blazers outshot the Oil Kings 60-19.

GIANTS 4 CHIEFS 3 (OT)

LANGLEY, B.C. – Ty Thorpe scored at 4:16 of overtime to give the Vancouver Giants a 4-3 victory over the visiting Spokane Chiefs.

Samuel Honzek scored twice for the Giants (21-26-4-2), while Ethan Semeniuk netted a single. Thorpe also chipped in with two assists.

Chase Bertholet, Ty Cheveldayoff and Mac Gross scored for the Chiefs (11-36-3-4), who were outshot 29-27.

ICE 4 BRONCOS 2

SWIFT CURRENT, Sask. – Owen Pederson scored twice as the visiting Winnipeg ICE defeated the Swift Current Broncos 4-2.

Zach Benson and Zack Ostapchuk also scored for the Eastern Conference-leading ICE (44-7-1-0), who led 1-0 after the first period and 2-1 after 40 minutes.

Owen Pickering and Luke Mistelbacher scored for the Broncos (25-25-1-2).

RAIDERS 4 WHEAT KINGS 3 (OT)

BRANDON, Man. – Sloan Stanick scored 65 seconds into overtime to give the visiting Prince Albert Raiders a 4-3 come-from-behind victory against the Brandon Wheat Kings.

Evan Herman, with his second goal at 11:54 of the third period, tied the game for the Raiders (23-28-3-0) at 3-3 and forced the extra period.

Niall Crocker also scored for the visitors. Keaton Sorensen chipped in with three assists.

Nolan Ritchie, Dawson Pasternak and Luke Shipley scored for the Wheat Kings (22-24-8-0), who outshot the Raiders 33-26.

TIGERS 4 REBELS 1

RED DEER, Alta. – Brenda Lee scored twice, Reid Andresen added two assists and the visiting Medicine Hat Tigers upset the Red Deer Rebels 4-1.

Andrew Basha and Cayden Lindstrom also scored for the Tigers (23-22-8-1), who led 2-0 after the first period and 3-0 after 40 minutes.

Kai Uchacz scored for the Rebels (37-14-1-3), who were outshot 27-17.

ROCKETS 3 AMERICANS 1

KELOWNA, B.C. – Carson Golder, Adam Kydd and Marek Rocak took care of the offence on Family Day as the Kelowna Rockets defeated the visiting Tri-City Americans 3-1.

Adam Kydd chipped in with two assists for the Rockets (20-30-3-0), who had the game’s lone power-play goal.

Lukas Dragicevic scored for the Americans (26-21-5-2).

THUNDERBIRDS 7 ROYALS 0

VICTORIA, B.C. – Gracyn Sawchyn scored two goals, Thomas Milic stopped all 26 shots fired his way and the visiting Seattle Thunderbirds cruised past the Victoria Royals 7-0.

Jared Davidson, Colton Dach, Sam Popowich, Tij Iginla and Dylan Guenther also scored for the Western Conference-leading Thunderbirds (42-9-1-1), who led 4-0 after the first period and 6-0 heading into the third.

Goaltender Nicholas Cristiano saved 34 of 41 shots for the Royals (15-35-5-1).

COUGARS 1 WINTERHAWKS 0 (SO)

PRINCE GEORGE, B.C. – Zac Funk’s goal in the seventh round of a shootout ended a battle of goaltenders as the Prince George Cougars edged the visiting Portland Winterhawks 1-0.

After 65 minutes of scoreless hockey, the Cougars (25-23-4-0) got goals from Ondrej Becher and Funk to win the shootout segment 2-1. Luca Cagnoni scored for the Winterhawks (36-13-2-3).

Netminder Tyler Brennan of the Cougars made 31 saves for the win, while Dante Giannuzzi of the Winterhawks stopped 30 shots.
