PATS UPSET BLADES 4-2

REGINA – No Bedard, no problem. For now. On the heels of three straight losses without their rookie phenom leading scorer Connor Bedard, the Regina Pats have rattled off back-to-back victories in the Dub Hub to get close to the .500 mark.

The latest was a 4-2 victory over the Saskatoon Blades Tuesday evening. In the final meeting of the season between the Highway 11 rivals, the game was scoreless after the opening 20 minutes.

A back-and-forth middle frame saw the Pats emerge with a 3-2 lead after 40 minutes. Carter Chorney and Layton Feist struck for Regina while Saskatoon responded with goals from Caiden Daley and Brandon Lisowsky to tie it up at 2-2.

Overage Pat forward Carson Denomie scored the eventual game-winner at 17:24 of the second period. They carried that advantage into the third and fellow overage Kyle Walker iced the game with an empty-netter with 1:04 remaining.

Game over: Regina 4 Saskatoon 2

The Pats outshot the visitors 26-22 while going 0/5 on the powerplay and 5/5 killing penalties. Roddy Ross earned the win in the Regina goal while Saskatoon’s Nolan Maier took the loss.

Regina (8-9-2-1) finished the season series 1-3 against Saskatoon and returns to action on Thursday at 8:00 pm against the Swift Current Broncos in the Brandt Centre on AccessNow TV and 620 CKRM.
