PATS WIN BARN-BURNER AT BRANDON

Brandon, Man. — The Regina Pats scored a touchdown on Wednesday night, as they edged the Brandon Wheat Kings 7-6 on the road.

The goals came fast and furious in the first two periods, with the score deadlocked 3-3 after 20 minutes and the Pats leading 6-5 after 40.

Layton Feist’s blast on the power play halfway through the third period held up as the game-winner, with Brandon scoring a goal with 14 seconds left to make it 7-6.

Five Pats had multi-point nights: Tanner Howe (2G, 1A), Stanislav Svozil (2G), Connor Bedard (2A), Braxton Whitehead (1G, 1A) and Neithan Salame (2A).

Drew Sim snagged the win in goal with a 40-save performance.

The shots on goal in the contest favoured the Wheat Kings 46-40. Both teams struck twice on the power play, with the Pats going 2-for-4 and Brandon going 2-for-6.

Regina’s win means they are now just four points out of the 7th and 8th-placed spots in the Eastern Conference, currently held by Calgary (47 points) and Swift Current (47 points).
