PETAN GETS PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Calgary, AB – The Western Hockey League announced today that Portland Winterhawks’ forward Nicolas Petan is the Denny’s WHL Player of the Week for the week ending October 20, 2013.
Petan recorded seven points on two goals and five assists to go with a +6 rating over three games in the past week, helping lead the Winterhawks to three victories in that span.
Petan, an 18-year-old from Delta, B.C., is in his third season in the WHL with the Portland Winterhawks, and currently sits second in the WHL scoring race with 23 points in just 11 games this season. Selected by the Winnipeg Jets in the second round, 43rd overall, of the 2013 NHL Draft, Petan co-led the WHL and CHL in scoring last season with 120 points. The 5’9″, 173-lb forward has amassed 67 goals and 179 points in 146 career regular-season contests for the Winterhawks.
