PFC CLASH OF THE TITANS: THUNDER AT HILLTOPS

OVERVIEW:
The Regina Thunder (3-0) hit the road for a second consecutive week Saturday to take on the the Saskatoon Hilltops (3-0) on rivalry weekend in the PFC. The Thunder are coming off a 76-9 drubbing over the Edmonton Huskies while Saskatoon beat up on the Winnipeg Rifles 65-9. It will be a battle for top spot in the league on Saturday at Gordie Howe Bowl. The Hilltops enter the contest ranked 1st in Canada while the Thunder are ranked 3rd. The game can be heard on 600 CJWW Saskatoon.

THUNDER NOTES:   The Regina Thunder have scored a league leading 188 points through their first three games. The offense has rushed for 892 yards which leads the PFC and thrown for 881 yards which also leads the league. They have turned the ball over just twice in the first three games and have allowed 4 sacks.

Quarterback Jaeden Marwick is coming off a 5 touchdown performance and was named the PFC offensive player of the week. Sawyer Buettner is 23 of 36 passing in three relief appearances and has 338 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions.

Runningback Colton Klassen leads the league in rushing yards with 493. Kasim Ocaya leads the Thunder receiving corps with 161 yards on 9 receptions.

The Thunder defense has given up just 55 points in three games, that is tied for second best in the league. The Thunder have forced 13 turnovers, 5 interceptions, 4 fumble recoveries and 4 on downs. That is third best in the PFC, they are however last in sacks with 1 which belongs to Terry Giovanetti.

Linebacker Jarrett Seck leads the team with 12 tackles in three games. He also has a forced fumble. DB Dustin Erbach is next with 9 tackles and has a forced fumble and 2 interceptions.

Taylor Meyer, Mason Dick and Marcus Hall have the other interceptions. Dick also has a touchdown on special teams on a fumble recovery in the endzone.

HILLTOPS NOTES:  The Hilltops have scored the second most points in the league with 144. They have thrown for 656 yards and ran for 538. Saskatoon has turned the ball over 7 times, 4 times on interceptions, twice on fumbles and once on downs and have given up 4 sacks.

QB Jared Andreychuk leads the league in passing yardage with 591 yards on 41 completions. He has thrown 6 touchdowns and 3 interceptions.

Runningback Logan Fischer is 2nd in league rushing with 325 yards on 37 carries and has scored 3 touchdowns.  Receiver Evan Kopchynski is second in the PFC’s receiving category with 197 on 3 grabs.
