PLAYOFFS SET AT WESTERN CANADA CUP
The AJHL-champion Brooks Bandits erased a 4-2 deficit and battled back for a 6-4 victory over the host Estevan Bruins Wednesday evening to conclude round robin play at the Junior A Western Canada Cup.
With the win, the Bandits finished the round robin at 4-0 and advance to Saturday night’s 1-2 Playoff Game against the BCHL-champion West Kelowna Warriors (7:00 pm). The Bruins concluded the round robin at 0-4 and will not play on the weekend at Affinity Place.
In a playoff format borrowed from curling, Saturday afternoon’s 3-4 Playoff Game features the MJHL-champion Portage Terriers against the SJHL-champion Melfort Mustangs. Faceoff is at 2:00 pm.
The winner of the 1-2 Playoff earns a berth in the 2016 Royal Bank Cup in Lloydminster while the loser goes to Sunday’s final against the winner of the 3-4 Playoff. The winner of that game will earn the second berth into the RBC.
We broadcast Thursday’s SportsCage live on 620 CKRM from Estevan and it was a real treat as we were joined by SJHL President Bill Chow, Clark Munro of the Estevan Bruins, NHL great Glenn “Chico” Resch and former Bruins Coach & GM Nick Sereggela.
Thank you Estevan for hosting us! It’s been a fabulous event.

That is a terrific photo of a great arena.
Too bad it has only a few in attendance!
Had the Bruins had won just one game, the whole town would've been jumping this weekend.
As if the town of Estevan hasn't been destroyed enough by the Oil slump, now the Bruins will take a loss on hosting the Royal Bank Cup
