PRAIRIE MOBILE SATURDAY EYE-OPENER

NHL:  The Calgary Flames are heading back to Anaheim with a 3-1 deficit in their Western Conference semifinal. Frederik Andersen made 25 saves and four different Ducks players found the back of the net as Anaheim topped Calgary 4-2 in Game 4. The Ducks host Game 5 on Sunday.

Ryan McDonagh scored 9:37 into overtime as the New York Rangers staved off elimination with a 2-1 win over the Washington Capitals in Game 5 of their Eastern Conference series. New York now trails the Capitals 3-2 in the best-of-seven series. Game 6 goes Sunday in Washington.

Detroit Red Wings head coach Mike Babcock is allowed to test the open market. The team says they have granted a request from the highly respected coach for permission to speak with other teams. Babcock’s contract is expiring this off-season. After the Red Wings were eliminated from the playoffs, G-M Ken Holland said although the team had exclusive negotiating rights with Babcock until the end of June, it wasn’t in anyone’s best interest for the process to linger that long. Now Babcock can get a better sense of what his options are.

WHL:  Leon Draisaitl’s late second-period goal proved to be the difference as the Kelowna Rocket’s edged the Brandon Wheat Kings 4-3 on Friday in Game 1 of the Western Hockey League final.

Tyson Baillie, Justin Kirkland and Chance Braid also scored for the Rockets. Josh Morrissey added two helpers.

Rihards Bukarts scored twice and Peter Quenneville also had a goal for the Wheat Kings.

Jackson Whistle made 24 saves for his 10th win of the post-season for the Rockets. Wheat Kings netminder Jordan Papirny stopped 36 shots in a losing effort.

MLB:  Aaron Sanchez threw seven sparkling innings to lead the Toronto Blue Jays in a 7-0 blowout over the Boston Red Sox. Sanchez held the Red Sox to just two hits and five walks while fanning three in the longest outing of his major league career. Josh Donaldson and Chris Colabello had home runs for the Jays.

Detroit Tigers left-hander David Price left Friday night’s game against Kansas City in the seventh inning with an apparent ankle injury after stepping on a bat. Price ran behind home plate to back up a play when he stepped on a bat with his right foot. He left the game after trying a warmup pitch.

Bryce Harper hit two more home runs, giving him five in two games, and Danny Espinosa also connected twice to power the Washington Nationals past the Atlanta Braves 9-2. Harper drove in five runs with three hits. On Wednesday, he homered his first three times up and drove in five runs.

Texas Rangers outfielder Josh Hamilton is scheduled to join triple-A Round Rock on Sunday. The Rangers said Hamilton is set to move up from extended spring training this weekend. He went 1 for 5 with a three-run homer while playing five innings in left field against Seattle minor leaguers today.
