PRESS BOX SPORTS BAR RECAP: PATS 8 BRONCOS 1
REGINA — 20-year old forward Dawson Leedahl scored two goals and added three assists to pace the Regina Pats to an 8-1 rout of the Swift Current Broncos Friday in the Brandt Centre.
It was the second Pats victory in a week over the Broncos, after winning 6-3 in Swift Current on Sunday.
On Global TV’s Teddy Bear Toss Night on Friday, Regina product Riley Woods opened the scoring at 11:45 of the first period, triggering thousands of teddy bears and stuffed toys to be launched onto the ice by Pats and Broncos fans alike. The toys were collected to be distributed to sick children in Regina hospitals by the Pats players next week.
Regina led 3-1 after the first period on goals by Woods, Nick Henry and Filil Ahl. The Broncos’ lone goal of the game came from Kaden Elder late in the frame.
Regina upped its lead to 4-1 after 40 minutes on Connor Hobbs’ 12 of the season. That chased Broncos starting goalie Taz Burman from the net after making 12 saves on 16 shots.
The Pats continued the onslaught in the third, with a pair of goals by Leedahl along with Henry and Hobbs past the Broncos’ Travis Child.
Regina outshot Swift Current 45-27 on the night while going 2/3 on the powerplay and 3/4 killing penalties.
The attendance was 5128.
The Pats (21-2-5 overall, 11-0-3 at home) return to action Saturday night when they host the Saskatoon Blades at 7:00 pm on 620 CKRM.
Our next Access broadcast of Pats hockey is next Friday in Moose Jaw when the Pats and Warriors collide in a 7:00 puck drop.

I was at the game tonight and I swear this is the best team I have ever seen since I started going to games in 1979-80.
This team is a once in a generation team, so enjoy it while it lasts. Zborovskiy , Hobbs and Steel are guaranteed to make the NHL (barring injuries) in my opinion. Leedahl deserved the 1st star he received tonight, and not only for scoring 5 points. The guy brings exactly what the Pats needed last year for the dressing room in leadership.
Have the Blades cracked 3,000 fans average for games yet ? Oh right, they are a Lacrosse town now.
Yeh Mr. smart ass but their Lacrosse team draws 3 times as many fans as your Patsies do on average per game. So get a life.
If it wasn't for all the Government workers in Regina your population would probably be around 170,00 and your hockey team would probably draw about 2800 per game and by the way that is usually what they do draw when they are losing. To bad they have to play in such a small chicken coop like they have in Regina.
Can't wait till the pats put double digits on the board tonite against the blades…quit trolling an do read les lazaruks blog if he even has one….Go Pats!!!
Can't we all just get along?
Kudos to all the fans that came out in that weather to support Teddy Bear Night…2600 stuffed animals!! With these ongoing offensive outbursts on Home turf I'm not sure what's going to happen first…me needing to let all my pants out, or Mr. Mike's Restaurant going broke with their "6 Goal -Free Appetizer Promotion"! Thought both Teams played a somwhat listless game last night perhaps because Broncos had been off for a week and Pats were playing their 5th in 7 nights. Once the Pats got up 4 – 1 early in the 2nd period they actually went into a… Read more »
Pats go up fast 1-0 on the listless Blades. Stick to lacrosse boys.
The Pats put up 1 digit, if I was a pat fan, I'd demand my money back.
Hey smart butt, Blades defeated Pats 2-1 in OT
Hey Baby… The Lacrosse Boys kicked ass on the Patsies. ha ha ha.
Our football team in Regina draws 30000 a game, enjoy your LaCrosse
Go Pars!!!
Your football team?? Ha ha . More than half the crowds are from all over Saskatchewan . Our Lacrosse Champions draw 15,000 to every game and mostly right from good old Saskatoon.
Toon town boy, get over yourself. Rush will be moving to Regina in 4 years when the Rush support dwindles after a couple of losing seasons.
