LANGLEY, BC – The Regina Pats scored four times in the first period on the way to an 8-3 win over the Vancouver Giants on Sunday afternoon.
The victory avenged the Pats’ 5-3 loss the night before in Victoria, which snapped their win streak at 11 games and was their first regulation time loss of the season.
On Sunday at the Langley Event Centre, Regina’s Adam Brooks got the offence started with a goal and two assists in the opening frame and ended with a four point night.
Brooks has points in every game since returning from training camp with the Toronto Maple Leafs (8G, 24A).
Sam Steel also had three points while Connor Hobbs, Luc Smith and Filip Ahl each had a goal and an assist.
Jordan Hollett made 21 saves to win in his hometown.
The Pats led 4-0 after the first period and 6-2 after 40 minutes. They outshot the Giants by a narrow 27-25 margin.
Regina was 2/6 on the powerplay and 5/5 killing penalties.

Hollett got yanked after 3 goals on 20 shots so didn't finish game
Correction – he got hurt not yanked
Hollett was injured in a goal mouth scramble on the 3rd goal and left with a lower body injury (on the replay looked like right leg got put in a vulnerable position) so hopefully not too serious. He was playing very well as Vancouver had some very good scoring chances in the initial period, meanwhile Van's Goaltending left very much to be desired even after they changed tenders in 1st period. Pats PP is a treat to watch but could shoot a little more I think…seems they are always trying for the "pretty" setup…going to need a goal anyway they… Read more »
Steel was considered the best WHL forward during the Canada/Russia Series and is being talked about around the country. His performance there with his strong defensive game put on display, paired with his leading the WHL in points, it sounds like he is pretty well a lock for Team Canada. Hobbs has been ridiculous since then as well, taking over the league lead in points for defencemen and though some other guys still have the upper hand, with Bean (and Patrick) possibly being left off due to not being in game shape, Hobbs could get a better shot yet.
