PRESS BOX SPORTS BAR RECAP: REGINA 5 KOOTENAY 4 OT

CRANBOOK, BC – Riley Woods scored 2:20 into overtime to give the Regina Pats a third straight win, 5-4 over the Kootenay ICE on Tuesday night.

Jake Leschyshyn gave the Pats a 1-0 first period lead but in the second, the ICE scored three quick ones to lead 3-1.

The Pats responded with three of their own, two from Sam Steel and one from Adam Brooks and led 4-3 early in the third.

However Kootenay tied it up and forced OT.

That’s when Riley Woods jammed in his fourth of the year across the goal line as the Pats improved to 20-2-4-0 with the victory.

Tyler Brown made his 6th consecutive start in goal and stopped 46 of 50 shots for his 13th win.

Sergey Zborovskiy led the Pats offence with three assists.

Attendance was 1500…is that a mistake? Ugly if true

Attendance 1,538? Maybe a misprint.

Anyway, the Pats assistance coach was on radio after the game saying that was the worst game of season for Pats and they should be embarrassed. 20-02-04 record

Unfortunately 1,500 is likely not a mistake. They averaged 1,957 per game last season, I guess that is why there is constant talk of a sale of the team.

I don't understand how a major junior franchise can continue existing with attendance like that…..1500…yes that's been par for the course for some time down in Cranbrook.

According to the WHL website attendance 1538. How long will this franchise be able to survive with this kind of support. Good comeback by the Pat's maybe took the Ice lightly? Still a win, looking forward to the home games this weekend.

I attended Vancouver Giants they play in a rink smaller than Estevans and it was 2800.

1500 fans makes you wonder just how long they can exist there. There has been lots of talk about wanting to get a team on the Island so as to make things easier on Victoria. Winnipeg has been in the conversation as well a couple spots in Alberta. Penticton was once rumoured as well. The pats came off a rather pedestrian BC trip and have been guilty of nonchalant play much of this year.
