PRICE IS RIGHT?

Receiver Maurice Price issued the above statement on Friday regarding his sudden retirement from pro football.

Here’s some background on the story:

REGINA – Maurice Price won’t be catching passes this season for the Saskatchewan Roughriders.

The CFL club confirmed Thursday that Price, 30, has filed retirement papers with the league.

“We are surprised and disappointed to hear of Maurice Price’s decision to retire,” Riders head coach/GM Chris Jones said in a statement. “We were given no indication when we acquired Maurice and negotiated a new contract that he may not continue playing.

“As a team we will continue to move forward with our free agent camps and work through the CFL draft. An opportunity has opened up for another player.”

Saskatchewan acquired the six-foot, 200-pound Price from the Ottawa Redblacks on Jan. 11. He had 58 catches for 603 yards and a TD last season.

The Riders said as per CFL rules, the deal with Ottawa will stand.

Worthless punk. Knew he wouldn't make the roster /didn't want to compete, stole some cash and ran.

Legal proceedings should begin immediately to recover and money he received.

CFL players make peanuts (unlike the team's management), so a bonus for this veteran player is fine by me. Lord knows there have been many times when players have been screwed out of their bonus payments by GM's running the Riders and other CFL teams. I am sure some recent examples jump to mind.

This is sweet revenge for the sliders burning dressler ,chick and others on their bonuses days before they were to be paid out ,so good on the riders to get burnt back ,a classless organization gets a taste of their own medicine, plus goes to show that not everyone wants to play for a last place team .lol

Guess Jones and Murphy should have done their homework on this guy a bit more. They were so focused on getting rid of any player that was on last year's team, they forgot to see if this guy actually planned on playing this season. Hand over the money and draft picks for nothing. It does feel like karma bit them a bit.

It takes a real idiot to screw up on Expedia. Congratulations! This doesn't surprise me either.

Totally agreed. Maybe do some research on the location of the hotel before you book Rod. Expedia isn't responsible for the location. They also are not responsible for flights being delayed. A true genius.

Ottawa knew Price was going to retire so they traded him to the first sucker that came along . The new kid (gm) got burnt.

Mr. Kent Austin is a Football God Genius,
" In God We Trust".
If the Saskatchewan Roughriders Football Club had retained his services they would have had 9 Grey Cup titles by now with another in 2016. Too bad, so sad administration of the day created a mess (reminds a person of the current direction the sk province is headed) of that franchise that Mr. Jones/Murphy now have to remediate. Good luck Mr. Jones/Murphy, God Speed.

Don't follow your math. He hasn't won any Grey Cups since he left Sask. Unless your saying Sask is a better franchise then Hamilton.

We all know it is, so is that what your getting at?

Interesting that he decides to retire the exact same day as the CFL announces the new drug testing policy.

Kinda wonder what was going thru his mind. Gotta think he looked at the talent that was there in the Mini camps and maybe thought time to hang it up. Riders never gave away a lot. just some late round draft choices.
