The Saskatchewan Roughriders announced on Friday the club has accepted the resignation of Defensive Coordinator Greg Quick.
The Riders accepted Quick’s resignation before Grey Cup so the move has nothing to do with the team’s job interview with Chris Jones on Friday.  Quick’s only season with Saskatchewan was in 2015.
Quick resigned to pursue other football opportunities.

He quit because he couldn't get out of Regina fast enough.

Greg Quick an astute man. Decision has much to do with a damaged franchise with no direction. Craig Reynolds need sign to contract Chris Jones ASAP! The writing on the wall for others (J.O) to follow suit.

Was he like most other assistants and on a one year deal?

If so, isn’t this just letting him go a month early so that he can apply for opportunities elsewhere?

The real question that needs to be asked is, "was he ever really here?"

Arash Madani convinced me on Jones yesterday on the Sportscage. I was worried that Jones had never been a GM. But apperently Jones has been doing all the recruiting at camps south of the border. He definitely has an eye for talent. But he will need an assistant, and that could very well be O'day. He needs someone to help him with signing guys and salary camp Managment. Who better then someone in the system like O'Day. And in a few years, if we are successful, and Jones stays, O day will be sought after like Murphy or Sunderland, so… Read more »

Considering the defensive performance this year, are we really surprised

If you really pay attention O'Day is already under contract as an assistant GM if he doesn't get the full gm spot. That means the new gm would have to fire him if he didn't want him.

Does John Murphy take credit for calgary's aging and decrepit defence. I guess we will see his worth for real now that the stamps are facing a big turnover of talent and age across the roster.

"defensive performance this year"? Are you kidding. One has to wonder if Quick was enabled to put together and plot a defense what might it looked like? Maybe it would have been worse but I doubt it.

Want to read a puker story? Read Vanstones column today. How can Reynolds win? If he hires Jones and it costs the Riders millions but doesn't work out (as I expect)he is a loser. If he doesn't, the Media, our self appointed gods of journalism, blame him for not signing Jones.
Lucky fellow our Reynolds. Good luck buddy.

Considering this team has no room under the salary cap because of the past regime, what kind of miracles do people think Jones would be able to accomplish.

Nothing wrong with Ottawa assistent GM. Seems to be good with talent finds. He would be my number 2.

The Riders need a strong defensive coach and a better group of none imports. Bagg, Getzlaf, are to old the o-line is weak as is the d-line. Our canadian talent is very weak.
