Regina, SK – Rylan Parenteau kicked out 41 shots to lead the Prince Albert Raiders to a 3-1 victory against the Regina Pats on Friday night at the Brandt Centre. The Raiders’ win snapped the Pats’ win streak at seven games.
The Raiders scored two goals in similar fashion as defencemen joined the attack and connected from the slot. Vojtech Budik opened the scoring with a power play goal just 1:55 into the game, while Jesse Lees picked up the insurance marker at the 6:44 mark of the middle frame. Reid Gardiner registered his 100th WHL goal into an empty net to round out the scoring.
Cole Sanford got the only goal of the night for the Pats as he broke Parenteau’s shutout at 6:58 of the third period.
Parenteau’s 41 saves came on 42 shots, while Regina goaltender Tyler Brown turned away 21 of 23 attempts.
The Pats outshot the Raiders 42-23. Prince Albert went 1-for-4 on the power play, while Regina was 1-for-6.
The attendance was 4981.
The win by the Raiders guarantees them a spot in the playoffs and improves their record to 34-20-7-1. The Pats see their seven-game win streak come to an end as their record slips to 30-24-3-4.
The Pats return to action Saturday at Saskatoon in a 7:00 pm faceoff on 620 CKRM.

The Pats played a great game but PA goalie was hard to beat. So many chances and you can see how good the Pats have the potential to be. One more year and they will be getting lots of attention as one of the teams to beat.
Entertaining game, if you don't go to Pat's games your missing some great entertainment.

The Pats are coming along no doubt. But Junior hockey is so fickle. Next season the teams dynamic will be different. They will lose Macklin, Sanford, Williams and most likely Brooks. Does the roster have four guys that can step in fill the minutes, stats, leadership? Not sure Sam Steel is a 100 point guy.
The good news is Harrison is the only other 19 year old so they can add someone there.
Next year is the year for the Pats or the plan starts again.
The team looked tired and most shots were from outside. You can't always score off the rush and the fatigue showed as they couldn't cycle very well. They have played a lot of games in a short time and it looked as if it caught up. A few brain cramps and unable to bare down. I think they need a couple days of rest but don't look like they will be getting it.
Nobody can say what will happen season to season in hockey, especially junior hockey. One player doesn't return then a couple key injuries and your whole season is in the tank. We have a lot of returning players but is there really a lot of returning talent. It's very foolish and uninformed to think because you hope to have a good team next season, that you actually will. There are many hurdles to cross.
We can remain hopeful but there is much reconstruction that's needed.
As Brown has done to the opposition the last month Parenteau did last night. He played great and was the difference in the game. 1st Star well deserved.
So many goal mouth scrambles with no puck luck for the Pats or else could have been a blow-out.
Was a very good game and as stated previously the Pats are playing exciting hockey…well worth the ticket price. Let's support them.
