RAIDERS 7 PATS 3

Regina, SK – The Prince Albert Raiders scored four goals in the first period as they beat the Regina Pats 7-3 on Sunday evening at the Brandt Centre. The Raiders were able to put their stamp on Sunday’s contest with a big offensive first period. Prince Albert opened the scoring at the 1:40 mark as they went on to take advantage of a number of Regina miscues and grab a three-goal lead. The offence was supported by Rylan Parenteau who made timely stops throughout the game. Matteo Gennaro (1g-2a) and Reid Gardiner (2g-1a) led the Raiders with three-point efforts. Parker Kelly (2a), Jesse Lees (1g-1a), and Jordan Tkatch (1g-1a) each had two points, while Cal Babych and Sean Montgomery also scored in the win. The Pats got scoring from Jared McAmmond, Sam Steel, and Austin Wagner.  Parenteau finished the game with 24 saves on 27 shots. Jordan Hollett started the game for the Pats but was pulled after allowing three early goals. Tyler Brown took over between the pipes but left with an apparent injury, forcing Hollett to return. Hollett made 14 saves on 18 shots, while Brown turned aside 13 of 16 attempts. The Raiders outshot the Pats 34-27. Prince Albert went 0-for-5 on the power play, while Regina was 1-for-3. Prince Albert gets their first win of 2016 and improves to 23-12-3-1 on the season, while the Pats fall to 17-17-3-3.
The Pats visit the Kootenay Ice Friday at 8:00 pm on 620 CKRM.

Tough loss going into a long road trip but maybe the trip will bring the Team closer together. Can see Williams is hurting; too bad he has had to go through the injury and tough recovery in his last year in the WHL. Gonna miss him if he has to miss some games with surgery.Going to get some of these game results I guess with a young goaltender who for some reason wasn't with it tonight when playing pucks behind his net…tough because he has played very well most of his starts… and then a lot of mistakes by pretty… Read more »

No more BS excuses… this team over the last month has played like crap. Goaltending from both guys has been poor. Little work ethic or grit. The same defensive brain cramps almost every night. Zaborovskiy a -5..really. They tried to play the same game they did with Swift but it didn't work tonight against better opposition. Another period off again tonight like has been happening most games the last month or more. Now Williams gone for at least 6 weeks and it's also been spoken about as season ending. I'm betting it's the later.

Junior hockey. Raiders get blasted by the Blades 6-1 in Saskatoon. Raiders blast the Pats 7-3 in Regina two nights later. Consistency is the key in this league.

Love that first Raiders goal. Classic hockey from the Pats.
