RAIDERS TAKE NEW YEARS CLASH WITH PATS

REGINA, SK — The Prince Albert Raiders came into Regina and spoiled the Pats’ New Year’s Day as the visitors skated to a 5-2 victory at the Brandt Centre. The win was the Raiders’ first against the Pats in four meetings the season.

The Raiders got off to a 3-0 lead early in the second period and took a 5-1 lead into the third.

Ryder Ritchie led the way for the Raiders with a pair of goals (his seventh and eighth) on Sunday afternoon. Niall Crocker (fourth), Hayden Pakkala (fourth), and Carter Anderson (sixth) also scored for the Raiders who got their revenge on the hometown Pats after dropping a 4-3 contest in overtime on Friday night. Tikhon Chaika made 20 saves on 22 shots for the Raiders.

Braxton Whitehead (third) and Sam Oremba (fourth) replied for the Pats. Drew Sim stopped 21 of 26 Raiders shots in the first two periods before being replaced by Matthew Kieper who played the final 20 minutes, stopping all five shots that he faced.
