The Golden State Warriors have ended their 40-year NBA championship drought. Steph Curry scored 25 points and Draymond Green had a triple-double as the Warriors beat the Cleveland Cavaliers 105-97 in Game 6 of the Finals. LeBron James put up 32 points, 18 rebounds and nine assists for the Cavs.

Andre Iguodala went from bench warmer to NBA Finals MVP. Iguodala didn’t start a game all season until Game 4 of the Finals after the Warriors trailed 2-1. The 31-year-old dropped 25 points in Game 6 and was awarded the Bill Russell Trophy for his efforts.

Regina sent 10 batters to the plate in a 5-run 4th inning to grab an insurmountable lead and defeat the last place Swift Current Indians 8-2.
It was pitching by committee for the Red Sox as Parks Smiley, from Wilksboro, NC, got the start. Red Sox head coach Scott Douglas also used Tyler Vavra, Kendal Daniels, Jeremy Sylvester, newcomer Louis Cohen and Mike Thill in relief.
Catcher Henry Rowland had 2 walks, a RBI and scored two runs in the game while Gabriel Montero went 2 for 3 with 2 RBIs. Gabe Snyder, Jordan Schulz and Bryson Shelton also had 2 hits each for the Red Sox.
With the win Regina’s record improved to 9-5 while the Indians dropped to 2-9. The announced attendance at Currie Field was 475.
The Red Sox head to Melville Wednesday night and then to Weyburn for a pair of games before returning home to play Yorkton and Melville on the weekend.

The Toronto Blue Jays have dropped back-to-back outings after falling 3-2 to the New York Mets. Scott Copeland gave up three earned runs and eight hits in four innings in his second spot start of the season. Toronto is now 0-11 all-time on the road against the Mets.

The United States are the latest team at the Women’s World Cup to advance to the round of 16. The U.S. edged Nigeria 1-nil to secure top spot in Group D. Australia claimed second place in the group after drawing Sweden 1-1. Japan advanced from Group C with a 1-nil win over Ecuador. And Cameroon booked its spot in the knockout stage with a 2-1 win over the Swiss.

The Canadian men’s national team is one step closer to qualifying for the 2018 World Cup after downing the Caribbean Island of Dominica 4-nil at Toronto’s BMO Field. Canada will now play in the third round of CONCACAF qualifying, starting in August.

The city of Glendale says it’s willing to renegotiate an arena lease for the NHL’s Arizona Coyotes, but stands by its conflict-of-interest reasoning for cancelling it in the first place. In a brief statement, the Coyotes’ ownership group said it plans to honour the arena lease signed in 2013 and expects the city to do the same. Last week, the City Council voted to terminate the 15-year, $225 million dollar agreement with the Coyotes, citing a conflict-of-interest law involving two ex-Glendale employees leaving to go to work for the team.
