RECAP: PATS 6 HITMEN 2

Keith Hershmiller Photography
REGINA – Before a fifth consecutive sellout crowd of 6,484, the Regina Pats dumped the Calgary Hitmen 6-2 Friday in the Brandt Centre in a game which was closer than the score indicated.
On the Pats’ Blue Jays Night, the Pats wore special occasion Jays jerseys and Toronto’s Ezequiel Carrera was in town to drop the puck in a ceremonial faceoff.
And then, Regina’s offense exploded as Sam Steel scored a pair and Adam Brooks found the net before the 10-minute mark of the first period.
They carried that 3-0 lead into the second before the Hitmen’s Jordy Stallard got the visitors on the board at the 11:52 mark.  It was 3-1 Regina going to the third however Calgary goalie Cody Porter left the game with injury after making 14 saves on 17 shots.
The Pats’ Nick Henry put Regina up 4-1 early in the third but Calgary’s Matteo Gennaro again cut the lead in half at the 10:59 mark.
From there, the Pats took over as Sam Steel notched his hattrick goal at the 11:54 mark (his 30th of the season) and Nick Henry added his second of the night and 20th of the campaign to cap the scoring at 6-2.
The Pats outshot the Hitmen 35-27 while going 1/3 on the powerplay and 1/1 killing penalties.
Tyler Brown earned the win in the Pats goal making 25 saves.
With the win, Regina upped its home record to 14-0-4.
The Pats (27-3-6-1) are back on home ice Saturday night when they host the Warriors at 7 pm on 620 CKRM.

There's no stopping the Pats. Awesome being #1 in the country. Roddy needs to be a hockey play by play and not football. Go Pats Go!

Couldn't make the game tonight but watched 1st period at the curling rink on Access. Another dominant start by the Pats and Brown made some great saves to keep it at 3 – 0. Going to watch the rest on PVR but by the final score Hitmen kept it close in the 2nd before Pats broke it open in the 3rd, again.
Great to see there was a 5th straight sell out…bravo Regiment!
Will there be another Pats trade announcement this weekend now that the Juniors is over?

Talking about Access covering the Pats. But i think the HD coverage is absolutley fantastic. They seem to be providing more and more excellent content in HD

Another great effort by the Pat's. Hopefully the 3 Hitmen that had to be helped off the ice are ok, hate to see young men hurt.
