RED SOX 6 INDIANS 5

The Regina Red Sox got back on the winning track with a 6-5 victory over Swift Current in a rain shortened game Saturday night at Currie Field.

Aden Campbell, the sophomore from Western Illinois, made his presence felt at the plate. His three hits and two RBI led the Red Sox offensive charge. Leadoff hitter Justin Erlandson and Derek Slade also chipped in two hits a piece.

Red Sox starter Ben Schweinfurth picked up the victory after throwing 5.2 innings.  Andrew Mirasty came on in relief to get the final out of the 6th inning and end the Swift Current threat. Skyler Henson pitched a perfect 7th inning for the save.

Nelson Quark got the start and the loss for the Indians. Quark lasted just 3.1 innings giving up all six Red Sox runs on six hits.

573 fans were on hand to watch the Red Sox win their eighth win of the season.

Next action for the Red Sox is Father’s Day when Mitch MacDonald takes his troops on the road to Yorkton for a Sunday afternoon matinee.

The Sox return home to Currie Field for a pair of games, Wednesday, June 22 against Moose Jaw and Thursday June 23 against Melville.
