RED SOX BLANK MILLER EXPRESS

Regina’s 4-0 win over Moose Jaw on Sunday marked the second straight game the Red Sox have shutout their opponent.  The game was a classic pitching battle through the first eight innings as the Red Sox took a 1-0 lead into the ninth inning. In the top of the ninth the Sox exploded for three runs on three hits and two walks to put the game out of reach.

Rookie Dylan Bells earned his second win of the season for the Red Sox. The freshman from Frank Phillips only allowed two hit and three walks over five innings. Bells, who faced 21 Moose Jaw batters had three strikeouts. Manager Mitch MacDonald turned to the bullpen to close out the final four innings and they did not disappoint. Anthony Race, Darrien Ragins and Sam Cottingham-Beard did not allow a hit or run.

Moose Jaw starter Mitchell Robinson also had a good day on the mound. The native from Golden, Colorado strike out four Regina hitters but was tagged with one unearned run on two hits and three walks.

The Red Sox return to the field Monday night with a visit to the undefeated Weyburn Beavers.
