RED SOX BUCK BULLS 8-7

The Regina Red Sox began their four game road trip with an 8-7 slugfest win against the Alberta Division leading Lethbridge Bulls Tuesday night.

Regina had eight runs on 16 hits and three errors while Lethbridge countered with seven runs, 14 hits and two errors. Regina’s winning run came on a ninth inning home run by Bryson Shelton.

Offensively the Red Sox were also lead by Gabriel Montero and Jordan Schulz. Montero went four for five with a run while Schulz was three for five.

Starter Tommy Lay made his eighth start of the season going six innings giving up 11 hits and seven runs, four earned, while striking out four. Mike Thill picked up the win and Louis Cohen notched the save.

With the win, Regina improved to 19-20 and remain in second place in the Saskatchewan Division. It was the club’s fourth consecutive win.

The Red Sox and Bulls will play again Wednesday night at Spitz Field in Lethbridge.
