RED SOX CONTINUE MASTERY OF MOOSE JAW

The Regina Red Sox got solid pitching and timely hitting to beat arch rival Moose Jaw 5-0 at Ross Wells Park Sunday night.

With the victory and the Swift Current loss, the Red Sox returned to first place in the Eastern Division with a 1.5 game lead over the second place 57’s. The 460 Miller Express fans watched as Regina became the first Eastern Division team to reach the 20-win mark this season. Moose Jaw is now 15-17.

Dalton England started and got credit for the Regina win. He pitched seven shutout innings facing 25 batters while allowing just four hits and three walks. Ruddy Estrella kept the Miller Express hitters at bay in the eighth before handing the ball to closer Kevin Borst who picked up the save.

Bo Sheridan took the hill for the Moose Jaw Miller Express and had a very good seven inning outing. The Sox scored two runs on five hits while sending 29 batters to the plate against Sheridan, who was tagged with the loss.

The top of the Red Sox batting order once again caused havoc for opposing pitchers. In the top of the third inning Justin Erlandson went yard with a two-run shot that scored Corey Henderson. Erlandson’s homer made the score 2-0.

In the ninth inning Jordan Schulz singled to score Nolan Ard, then Broderick Rodocker singled to send Justin Erlandson home. Jordan Schulz scored the Red Sox third run of the inning on a Derek Slate sacrifice fly to centre field. The inning ended with the scoreboard reading 5-0 for the Red Sox.

During the game, Moose Jaw hitters managed just four hits and two walks against Red Sox pitching.

Next action for the Red Sox is Monday night at Currie Field when the Weyburn Beavers visit Regina. Game time is 7:00 pm.
