RED SOX FALL IN WEYBURN
Weyburn scored three runs in the bottom of the first inning and hung on to defeat Regina 4-2 in front of 388 fans at Tom Laing Park on Thursday. It was the Beavers’ third straight win over the Red Sox.
Jordan Scott started for the Red Sox and threw seven innings. He gave up 11 hits and four runs in the loss. Preston Minor came on to pitch Regina’s eighth inning.
Ryan Johnson started for Weyburn and went six innings for the win. The Winnipeg, MB native received help from four relivers including Eric Evans who notched his fourth save of the season.
Boderick Rodocker hit a two-run shot, his seventh of the season in the third inning to account for the Red Sox runs. Rodocker now has 43 RBIs in 2017. Aden Campbell also provided three hits to the Regina offence.
The Beavers top of the order were hot at the plate. Luis Jimenez, Zach Mathis and Evan Weidner combined for seven hits and all four Weyburn runs.
Both team had 11 hits in the game.
Regina will travel to Yorkton for a game against the Cardinals Friday night. First pitch is set for 7:05 pm.
