RED SOX FALL ON RIDER PRIDE NIGHT
The Swift Current Indians dominated Regina Red Sox pitching in their 12-2 win at Currie Field on Wednesday night. Indian batters had 20 hits on the night.
Swift Current rocked Red Sox starter Michael Garcia for five runs in the first inning and never looked back.
The Indians added six more runs in the seventh to take a commanding 11-1 lead. The teams then traded runs in the final inning.
Garcia took the loss for Regina and dropped his season record to 3-1. The Indians decided to go with a pitching by committee philosophy against the Red Sox. They used four pitchers in the contest. Aiden Goodall, threw two innings and was credited with the Indian victory.
Korbin Polston was a bright spot for the Red Sox as he was two for four with a RBI. Jon Nunnally smacked his fifth homer of the season for the second Red Sox run of the night.
A season high 1,100 fans were in attendance for Rider Night at Currie Field.
Regina, now 22-16, will look to return to the win column in a return date with the Indians in Swift Current Thursday night. They will visit Moose Jaw on Friday night before hosting the Weyburn Beavers on Sunday afternoon at 2pm.
it does seem that once again this year the achilles heel of the Red Sox is poor pitching. Year after year it's the same problem. That's too bat because they often seem to have guys who can hit. Like the bigs pitching is everything and the Red Sox don't have any.
