RED SOX OFF TO LEAGUE FINAL

The Regina Red Sox punched their ticket to the WMBL Championship final with a 5-4 win over the Weyburn Beavers Wednesday night. The Queen City kids won the Saskatchewan Division Final three games to two.

Regina trailed the Beavers 3-2 heading into the top of the seventh. That’s when the Red Sox bats came alive and plated three runs to grab the lead. It was all they would needed as the Regina bullpen held the Beavers at bay the rest of the way.

The Red Sox 16 hit offensive outburst was lead by Gabe Snyder and Strasbourg native, Jordan Schulz. Snyder, the freshman from Wright State, was four for five while Schulz was three for four. Both players also scored a run.

Tommy Lay, the Red Sox pitching ace, got the start in game 5. The cunning lefty pitched four innings before Scott Douglas made strategic use of the talent in his bullpen.

Game one of the Championship final will be played in Lethbridge on Thursday night at 7pm.
