RED SOX OUTGUN 57’S 9-4
The battle for second place in the Eastern Division drew 750 fans to Currie Field on Monday night. Regina got a three-run home run from Jahshua Jones in the fourth inning and then added to their lead with four runs in the bottom of the six inning to seal a 9-4 victory over Swift Current. Swift Current did out hit Regina 14-12.
Offensively Ben Komonosky went yard for the 57s, his tenth homerun of 2018, in the top of the fourth. Jake Wilson, the sophomore from Bowling Green, led the Red Sox with two hits and three walks.
Jacob Kampen, the Mt. San Antonio product started for Swift Current and lasted 3.1 innings. He allowed five runs on four hits and five walks in the loss. Peyton Burks, the winning pitcher, threw a solid six innings. Sam Cottingham-Beard came out of the bullpen and earned the save.
With the win the Red Sox moved back into second place.
