RED SOX POUND PROSPECTS 14-3

The Regina Red Sox scored five runs in the first two innings to take an early lead and then rolled to a 14-3 win over Edmonton at Currie Field.

Lefty Austin Alarid, the freshman from Eastern Arizona, turned in a strong eight innings for the Red Sox win. Alarid allowed just two runs on six hits and two walks.

Justin Erlandson broke the game open with a three-run double in the second inning. The speedster from Bend Oregon finished the night with three hits, two runs and three RBI. The offensive star of the games was Broderick Rodocker who had five hits, three RBI and two runs in the Sox win.  As well, each member of the Regina lineup had a hit in the contest.

Finnigan Duffield got the nod to start for the Prospects. He gave way to the Prospect bullpen after five innings. Duffield, who took the loss, gave up five runs on nine hits while fanning five Red Sox hitters.

Aiden Huggins had a hit and a walk for the Prospects.

Regina moved to 11-5 on the season, the loss dropped Edmonton to 9-6.

The Red Sox and Prospects will return to Currie Field Friday night for a rematch. Game time is 7:05 pm.
